VTG MCM  Tiki  Asian Man and Woman Teak Wood Hand Carved 16 in Lot of 2

Description

Offering this lovely vintage pair of Mid Century Modern hand carved teak wooden Asian/Polynesian Island man and woman figurals.  These hand crafted highly detailed Tiki  figurals stand approximately 16 1/2 inches tall.  The young woman is wearing a traditional wide brimmed hat and is in authentic native dress with a purse or satchel under one arm.  She stands 14 1/2 inches tall to the top of her hat and stands on a 3 inch base carved from the same piece of wood.  Her total height is 17 1/2 inches tall. The young man is in native dress and appears to have a machete in one hand and a bunch of bananas under his other arm.  The man stands 13 1/2 inches tall and also stands on a 3 inch base carved from the same piece of wood.  The pair match in scale except the woman's hat brim is upturned. These items were an estate find and have not been retouched with oil or scratch cover.  I believe they would touch up beautifully but know that some appreciate the beauty of wear to a vintage item. These pieces are used and have some minor superficial scratches.  There are no signs of repair or chips with loss of wood. This pair continues to show beautifully and I consider them to be in very good condition.
