    Description

A beautiful, well-crafted primitive fish trap created by a skilled craftsman:
This elegant, hand-crafted, creative piece of art is entirely made of wood sticks, straw and likely bamboo.  This piece stands just over 29" tall, 16"+ at its base with a 3" wide open top.  The construction mirrors many East-Asian works used to patiently haul-in loads of fish.  Hundreds of sticks are vertically lined from the base to the top, firmly fastened in place by a rim of straw and bamboo every 3" slowly pulling together to create a bottle-shaped trap to hold your catch from escaping!  The inside has half an hour glass shape with a small opening at the end making it easy to enter, yet difficult to swim out.
This piece may have been made around the 1950's, possibly earlier.  This primitive form of art can double as an elegant lamp shade, or a fine piece of décor.  The structure is held in great condition with few signs of wear.  There is dust and some discoloration on some sticks possibly from being used for its purpose.
