Thailand ca 1911 Large Bronze Supannahong Candle Holder Dragon Royal Procession Boat
Large and impressive Thailand cast bronze Supannahong candle holder dragon royal procession boat. This bronze boat is a replica of the royal barge Suphannahong (Golden Swan) built in 1911 during the reign of Rama VI. It is a royal barge used to carry royal people in the Royal Barge Procession. The procession is conducted on important religious and state occasions. The boat is part of the World Ship Trust and a Maritime World Heritage. This stunning bronze has the seven candled boat atop two columns and an intricately designed base. Great stylistic details on the boat. The boat is large , 22 inches long and 12 ½ inches tall, weight approximately 9 pounds. This is an early piece probably celebrating the initial construction of the vessel.
This piece is in good condition for its age. There is wear here and there and the bronze has toned. The iron screws holing the piece together have rust. The red paint on the boat interior has worn and flaked. This wear actually enhances the beauty of the piece. Please study the photographs, they are part of the description.
