Up for auction is this
exquisite,
vintage gilded bronze sculpture in beautiful vintage condition without damage.
This lost wax process bronze with aged gilt finish and patina, depicts poet
Sunthon Phu's PRINCE PHRA APHAI MANI.
This is not a religious Teppanom angel.
This sculpture
came from an estate auction with no
provenance
attached but is estimated to be Indonesian from the 1940s to probably early 1960s.
Besides typical age and handling wear to parts of the piece as seen in photos, there is some dust in crevices and a piece of old masking tape attached to the bottom that can come off if you decide to remove it.
It's not uncommon to find nearly identical sculptures of this sort, but this one is a more uncommon version of the sideways magical flute which is somewhat RARE.
This lovely, unique and very charming bronze sculpture is based on a very famous 48,700-line epic poem of a romantic adventure of a young prince who was kidnapped by a sea-ogress, known as Phi Sua Samut.
The poem was composed by
Thailand's
legendary poet Sunthon Phu.
It is considered to be one of Thailand's national epics.
Every year on June 26, Thai students celebrate this legendary poetic genius's birthday.  Phu who passed away in 1855 is recognized for his outstanding works in verse and was declared a World Poet by Unesco in 1986.
