Rare superbly hand carved antique Teakwood Panel of Hindu Temple Gods of love and sexual bliss. Ornately embellished. Beautifully pierced carved panel. Museum quality. Tribal period. Made in Southeast Asia, 20th century (possibly earlier) India/Tibet.
Depicts Kama and Rati, Hindu religion god and goddess of love, romance and sexuality. Kamasutra refers to the art of love, maintaining one’s love life, pleasure oriented faculties of human life. Female Love Goddesses are associated with beauty, seductive charms, and other traditional feminine attributes. Male love gods are associated with virility, manliness, sexual attraction and physical pleasure endurance. Hindu religion depicts Kama as husband and Rati as wife. They are the Gods of Love, and represent the art form of sexual pleasures.
Age: 19th / 18th century, estimated.
Condition: Good. Antique. Used. A few hairline stress cracks (previously repaired) on backside of panel. Carvings are excellent for age of this panel.
